"Ekranas" presents to Ghor province (photos)
PAG-13 civilian and military co-operation Specialist, Senior Sergeant Darius Vaitkevicius sent a letter from Afghanistan a few days ago.
"As we‘ve agreed I‘m sending you some photos from Afghanistan. The ball you gave was presented successully for kids of Afghanistan in Ghor province. However, I left some balls behind since I hoped to take them to the opening of Chaghcharan city stadium. Later, we found out that it won’t be built till we leave, so I presented the rest balls today to eight main teams of Chaghcharan city.
The ceremony o balls-giving was together with the ceremony of certificates for coaches of gym, who participated in the course of base weightlifting. Representatives of all the teams thanked for the support. Director of the sports department (who also got the picture of the team with signatures of footballers, a cap and skarf) was glad that Lithuanian champions care about Afghanistan football. These are the last photos that I sent, thank you for support from all Provincial Reconstruction Team. Good luck in the rest matches of the A league!!! We hope we could greet you with the name of Lithuanian champions 2011 when we’ll come back. "
We remind you that the soldiers ofthe Motorised Infantry Brigade "Gelezinis vilkas" of King Mindaugas Mechanised Infantry Battalion, whom "Ekranas" sent gifts to the children of Afghanistan visited "Ekranas" football club in mid-April.
The representatives of Afghanistan's Ghor Provincial Reconstruction Team in the thirteenth shift of Lithuanian soldiers went on the mission at the beginning of May having "Ekranas" presents. The team gave 20 balls and attribute of the team to solders who went to one o the most poorest regions. The members of the club gave the presents to the sports department of Ghor Province.
PAG and international partners, pay attention to sport section going on reconstruction projects of Ghor province. At the beginning of summer a pitch of basketball and volleyball were done in the village Kendiwal with the help of Lithuania. Now near the sports department in Chaghcharan, women stadium and gym is being built.
Now, the 13th shift of PAG is in the capital of Ghor province, on the basis of King Mindaugas Mechanised Infantry Battalion. The battalion of Mindaugas is for the second time on the mission in Afganistan that takes half of a year.
Lithuanian-led PAD in Ghor - joint civilian-military mission, NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) which is in the province of Ghor was launched in summer 2005. Its main task is to help the Afghan government extend its authority in the province, ensuring security and creating conditions for provincial reconstruction.
