Valdas Urbonas, "Considering the game we followed the plan”
At the beginning of the week, "Ekranas" head coach Valdas Urbonas shared his thoughts about the progress after the team training camp; he summed up the team’s game against the champions of Latvia and briefly commented on the internship in FC “Barcelona”.
- - What kind of impression you have about FC “Ventspils”?
- After the Spanish camp, we wanted to play against strong opponents. We were just worry about the cover of a pitch and weather conditions in Lithuania. I liked positive attitude of players. We made the opponents to play as we wanted; there were some good situations while attacking. The desire to show combinations in football and value the ball is very great. We’re trying to find an optimal model for the game.
- - There were many opportunities, but we failed to use them. Aren’t y ou worry about it?
- It is not only we who come across with this problem. I don’t want to repeat myself by saying, that it is a lack of pitch quality and players’ mastery or any other factors that influence the players and they miss to score. We really pay attention to ending of attacks in a training process. I think if you always score, it could not be interesting to anybody and this is a part of the football.
- - Maybe an internship in Barcelona had an impact on your tactical game against “Ventspils”?
- One need to understand where we were and for what purpose. If it were be so easy to adjust everything as soon as you come back, everyone would go there and later would play as FC “Barcelona”. We had a chance to see the best team in the world, and to form an impression of work they do and their philosophy. This is the most important thing. Now, it is too early to talk about adaptation of their tendencies Of course, it’s useful to widen our horizons. Especially when the new ideas born, which, I think will be used in the future in the team’s game.
- - Did the visit in FC “Barcelona” answer your hopes?
- This is what we have seen, how we spent the time, of course, could not but answer our hopes. A dream came true. I would say, we were in space, knowing that we will return to earth.
- What are the plans for the team this week?
- Continue to work, we are preparing for the championship, and we’re leaving to Spain on Monday. These are our plans, eagerly waiting for the start of the season.
