“Ekranas” won the second victory (FKE TV)
Lithuanian champion is gearing up for the next football season, and on Saturday they played against the bronze winner “Suduva” in Marijampolė “Arvi” football hall. As in the prior week in Riga, FC "Ekranas" won a victory with the same result 2:1.
In the first forty-five minutes, football was active and intense. At 22 min, the ball hit the defender’s R. Pilotas hand and the judge imposed the penalty to "Ekranas" box, Andrius Urbsys shot flew near the box. In attacking, “Ekranas” played far better than their opponents did. At 37 min. in the postural attack, M. Savenas shot to the box, "Sūduva” goalkeeper M. Matuzas didn’t expect that. The ball flew over the goalkeeper and shot into the top corner of the box.
After a minute, the opponents appealed to the judge in the “Ekranas” penalty area, asking for the penalty, but the referee did not see the "Ekranas" defenders’ default and encouraged the continuation of the match.
At 40 min., R. Radavičius from the left edge crossed the ball into the penalty area and the ball hit the opponents’ defenders hand. The judge imposed the penalty, which was clearly realized by the author R. Radavičius.
"Ekranas" made four changes at once in the second half; G. Tomkevicius, A. Kučys, A. Vertelis and A. Velicka came instead of R. Pilotas, A. Arlauskas, A. Fofana and T. Markievicius. A little later J. Moroz, D. Gleveckas, D. Norvilas, M. Duda came into the pitch. “Suduva” also changed its line-up.
In the second half was still compared to the first match. M. Savenas dangerously shot; M. Andelkovič was near to score. The opponents didn’t have chances to change the result, “Ekranas” played well in defense, goalkeeper T. Kauneckas played safely too.
At the very end of the match, at 88 minute, after a pass from the right edge "Sūduva" player K. Strolys scored a header. The result didn’t change till the, and the judge immediately declared the end and victory of “Ekranas”.
The closest match to FC "Ekranas" is in the training camp in Spain. The team is going there on Wednesday. The opponent is the Norwegian championship Strømsgodset IF that takes the eighth post.
After the friendly Saturday's match and victory against “Sūduva” Marijampole, "Ekranas” head coach Valdas Urbonas was happy about the game and about players’ dedication to football in the pitch.
"It is good that we had such a match, it was necessary, because we have worker enough. You could felt that the training stage gave quality to the game compared to the match against "Daugava". There were negative moments in defense. We’ve tested new players, regardless the outcome, the victory sets us positively at this stage. In general, I’m satisfied with the team game, with the players’ attitude towards the game. The most important thing is that everybody is healthy. On Wednesday, we’re going to Spain for further preparation. The week prior to the match with “Suduva” was intense we did the hard work. We played a good match and we are looking forward for new games"- said "Ekranas" head coach V. Urbonas after the match.
"Sūduva" head coach Virginijus Liubšys wasn’t disappointed too: "Although our team lost, I liked the game, especially the first half. He was lively; both the teams had chances to score. It is a pity that A. Urbsys failed to realize the penalty. We’ve been training just for a week, so “Suduva” was playing well, we just were lack of luck. Nevertheless, I want to thank the men for a good game. I’m not disappointed"- said “Sūduva” head coach Virginijus Liubšys.
